ALINEA is a duet for a body and a line.
Lines are figures, landscapes, language. They are effective whether drawn on a surface or in time. They create limits and meaning. Abstract, they are nonetheless active: do we not loose our line of thought? Lines measure and are used to capture the world around us. The daughter of Butades had a lover who went to war and with a line she captured his shadow on the wall… But what if we were to handle a line as we handle a body?
The performance questions the abstract and sensual properties of lines, and follows their different manifestations without attempting to define or crystallize them. How do we handle lines literally? Lines slip and slide through physical, perceptual and abstract forms, articulating the concrete with the abstract with ease. Over time, many lines unfold, as tangible as the body. Both object and thought, lines materialize.
